Since sports bikes and cruisers are extremely popular these days, there is only a limited choice of standard bikes ont he market. Standard bikes, for example the Honda Nighthawk, comes with a 600 to 700 cc engine. This would be a good selections for new riders. They are well powere and well balanced, and offer a good form of transportation. Some manufacturers offer crossover bikes, like the Honda Superhawk. This motorcycle includes some of the aerodynamic and performance features of a sport bike and it is based on the Nighthawk. This bike offers almost the same as a sport bike would, only with more comfort.

Touring Bikes are made for street use only. A touring bike is built for comfort, as well as highway cruising and for longer trips. They usually are built with large engines ranging from 1,000 cc to 1,500 cc. their weight varies between 700-1000 lbs. These bikes are hard to maneuver, therefore they are not recommened for beginners. These bikes are good for long distance trave, but are recommended for experienced riders only. Trouring bikes are not meant for city travel either.

Sport Bikes: belong to a sub-category of street bikes. Sports bikes are similar to sports cars: most drivers are young, they prefer this style. Sports bikes are made for comfort, convenience and performance. Their engine ranges from 600 cc to 1,200 cc. They weight 350-500 lbs. Sports bikes offer godd brakes, tuning and even acceleration. These bikes are not meant for long trips.

Cruisers: Maybe we should have started our list with cruisers, due to their popularity among all types of riders. These are one of the most popular styles of motorcycle, so bike-makers offer a wide variaty of bikes to fit every budget and many levels of experience. They weigh 450 lbs to 1,000 lbs. A cruiser is stylish and comfortable. You can choose a model that is ideal for highway and city travel.

Dual-Purpose Bikes: Dual-Purpose bikes have knobby tires and a high center of gravity.They come with turn signals, headlights and emission control..  Because these bikes weigh upwards of 350 lbs, they are not meant to ride on rough terrain, but they are great for dirt roads and trails. They also offer the convenience of  street riding. These bikes have engines ranging from 400 cc to 600 cc.

Motocross Bikes: These bikes are for off-road only use. These bikes are light-weight. They can weigh between 150 -300 lbs. Their small engine ranges between 50-500 cc. They cost much less than street bikes. Motocross bikes are great for recreational purposes but not for heavy traffic.
