Florida’s Daytona Beach is the venue for the Biketoberfest 2009 motorcycle event. This international award winning motorbike festival has participants enjoying an extended weekend filled with beaches, fun, bikes and sun. The city will be a witness to thousands of roaring bikers that strut around the town. Even with such a large number all of the bikes are unique, you will not be able to find two motorcycles that are alike. Bikes of all kinds, vintage, customized and new models from top motorcycle manufacturers who even organize demonstration rides for people to test their newest machines can be seen at this event. There are other activities also organized like bike shows and rallies as well as on-the-track live bike action on the internationally acclaimed Daytona International Speedway.
With so much activity happening and people around, fun and frolic cannot be kept away. There are also endless choices of delicious foods available with live music concerts happening that has a huge roaring audience. This annual event also promotes the planning of various other activities and events across many venues all over the county. The events held at Biketoberfest 2009 are on the lines of the bike week that is held in March of every year. You can find bars, concerts, vendors and bikini contests along with bike exhibits during this annual fest. In other words there is something for everyone – bike lover or not. While some bikers may stay in town, some stay at Orlando and ride across to Daytona during the day. With reasonable traffic, it may take a 50 minute pleasant ride between the two places. The best benefit of staying at Orlando is to keep the motorcycle in a private garage till showdown time.
It is rainy season in Florida’s Daytona so participants should be prepared accordingly as the afternoon rain storms are quite notorious here. Essentially the Biketoberfest 2009 is held between October 15 and 18, 2009 for those who have either not been able to attend the Bike Week held in March or cannot wait until the next March for such a gala event. The event was first started in 1992 October as the Daytona Fall Tour by Janet Kersey and intended to attract bikers in the off season. 5000 people participated in the first event, most of whom were locals but it has grown to a sizeable amount in all these years. The event was rechristened in 1993 as Biketoberfest.
