In theory, yes, a bike can run without one. But the wiring would be a mess.

Also, I&#039;d say if the sellers are saying it needs a harness, they might actually be talking about the harness plus the wiring involved. I&#039;d ask them before I purchased the bike. I&#039;ve never messed with the wiring or the harness on an R6, so I can&#039;t say how difficult it would be to install. You&#039;d have to take off the fairings, seat and gas tank probably.]]></description>
