Off Road Motorcycle Helmets are for just what they say...off road. They can also be used on the road because they carry a DOT rating, however, hey are not aerodynamically built for the higher speeds you encounter on the roads. Also, Off Road Motorcycle Helmets do not come with shields. Typically, you would wear goggles with this helmet to shield your face and eyes from the dirt.

Off Road Motorcycle Helmets are shaped much different than street helmets as well. They have a visor that bolts on to the helmet which most definitely helps keep the roost out of your face. Also, this elongated visor, when covered with the right materials, will help you out dramatically in the mud. This help comes from spraying a liquid greaser or use of special tape that will help the mud fall right off after it hits the helmet, instead of building up and making your head heavy.
