Where I live Helmets are Optional, I wear this Helmet when Riding with my Daughter who uses a DOT approved Helmet. I have a DOT approved Helmet but it is much Heavier than this one. The Helmet I purchased from Daytona is Lighter and has more room for my head. I Really Enjoy this Helmet, it serves My Needs as a Rider.

this helmet has a nice profile. sits tight to the head has about. 1/2 the padding of a crazy al’s which is the smallest d.o.t. helmet out. only reason why i give it a 4 start is the helmet is really oval shape. i would have preferred it a touch more round but thats just me knit picking. strap is supper easy to use. there is a review on here about how is had to use. i have no idea how that could possible be. the quick connect slides in effortlessly

As far as 4x novelty helmets go, it’s your only option, and luckily a good one.

Exactly what I was looking for. Of course it’s not DOT certified. If you failed to notice that (here’s a hint: it says “Novelty” in the name of the helmet) then that’s on you, not the helmet. The strap works perfectly. Pretty solid for the kind of helmet it is. Strap is pretty straight forward and well done. Considering it was my only option for size 4X I couldn’t be happier.

~ 5 Types Of Motorcycle Headgear

Motorcycle helmets are of 5 types and so are secured for the rider's head using a chin strap. The purpose of using them in addition to their protective benefits are defeated if chin strap just isn't secured.

Full Face Motorcycle Helmet: The total face helmet covers the complete head approximately the skull base and is the most protective among all the helmets. It provides a swiveling cutout band, referred to as a visor, made from transparent plastic across the front in the eyes and nose. Some helmets include vents for increased airflow. The disadvantages are decreased hearing, intense heat, and lack of wind. Full-face helmets that are widely used for motocross or off-road rides don't sometimes possess a face shield but the visor and chin portions are extended. A helmet with less coverage is less safe.

Off-Road/Motocross Motorcycle Helmets: Mototcross/Off-road Motorcycle helmets have extended visor and chin portions. The absence of a face shield permits the rider to use goggles and enable more airflow that's needed is during strenuous off-road rides. The visor protects the rider's eyes from flying debris and keeps sunshine's glare off of the rider's eyes during jumps.

Though off-road helmets was without a chin bar previously, modern off-road helmets possess a chin bar to shield the eye from impact during crashes. By wearing such helmets along with goggles, the same amount of protection as from full face helmets can be achieved.

Modular/Flip-Up Motorcycle Helmets: Also known from the name convertible, the modular helmet is really a hybrid relating to the full face and open face street helmet. The chin bar is on a pivot and is moved upwards to resemble an open face helmet. Anyone wearing the helmet may thus be able to eat and drink while not having to eliminate the chinstrap. They're well-liked by motor officers that are on the move.

Modular Motorcycle helmets are usually kept closed while riding and the chin bar is maintained only once not riding the motorcycle. In the event the helmet is kept in view position while riding, the potential risk of neck injury is greatly increased in the eventuality of this brief. However, those modular helmets that are dual certified as full face and open face helmets offer a great level of protection even when employed in the open mode.

Open Face Motorcycle Helmet: The face Motorcycle helmets cover the trunk in the head, the ears and the cheeks but don't contain the chin bar which a full face helmet possesses. A lot of them have provisions for visors to be snapped on. The safety for the face is minimal when working with these helmets.

Supplementing facial protection by putting on goggles or snapping on a face shield protects the eye from flying debris, strong wind and insects.
