-UPDATE – I have to update my review in fairness to HJC. I stood up on my pegs the other day at highway speed to get out the turbulence behind my wind screen and to see how this helmet performed out of the turbulent air; the CS-R2 quieted right down and was no louder than any other helmet I have had in the past. Seems I’m in the market for a new windscreen not a new helmet. As I said earlier the ventilation, fit and finish of this helmet is outstanding particurlarly for the price. (This is a different bike that the one I was riding with my other HJC helmet and aparently a lot les aerodynamic.) I’m updating my review to 5 stars.

Excellent helmet that fit me a bit too snug.

HJC makes excellent, affordable helmets. Fits pretty night around the cheek and jaw so you may want to consider sizing up. Luckily, this is available through Prime so returns/exchanges aren’t an issue.

Motorbike headgear are of five types and they are secured on the rider's head utilizing a chin strap. The intention of wearing them in addition to their protective benefits are defeated if chin strap isn't secured.

Full Face Helmet: The entire face helmet covers the entire head as much as the skull base and is easily the most protective among all the helmets. It has a swiveling cutout band, called a visor, made from transparent plastic over the front in the eyes and nose. Some helmets likewise incorporate vents for increased airflow. The disadvantages are decreased hearing, intense heat, and insufficient wind. Full-face helmets which might be popular for motocross or off-road rides usually do not sometimes use a face shield but the visor and chin portions are extended. Head gear with less coverage is less safe.

Off-Road/Motocross Helmets: Mototcross/Off-road helmets have extended visor and chin portions. The absence of a face shield allows the rider to put on goggles and invite more airflow that is needed during strenuous off-road rides. The visor protects the rider's eyes from flying debris and keeps sunlight's glare from the rider's eyes during jumps.

Though off-road helmets was lacking a chin bar earlier on, modern off-road helmets use a chin bar to protect the facial skin from impact during crashes. By such helmets as well as goggles, the equivalent protection as from full face helmets is possible.

Modular/Flip-Up Helmets: Also known through the name convertible, the modular helmet can be a hybrid involving the full face and open face street helmet. The chin bar is on a pivot and is moved upwards to resemble an empty face helmet. Anyone wearing the helmet may thus be capable of ingest without having to eliminate the chinstrap. These are well-liked by motor officers that are moving around.

Modular helmets are usually kept closed while riding along with the chin bar is kept up only when not riding the motorcycle. If your helmet is kept on view position while riding, the potential risk of neck injury is greatly increased in the eventuality of a crash. However, those modular helmets which might be dual certified as full face and open face helmets give a great degree of protection even when employed in the open mode.

Open Face Helmet: The face helmets cover the back in the head, the ears along with the cheeks such as the possess the chin bar that the full face helmet possesses. A lot of them have provisions for visors being snapped on. The protection on the face is minimal when you use these helmets.

Supplementing facial protection by wearing goggles or snapping on a face shield protects the facial skin from flying debris, strong wind and insects.

Half Helmet: Famous throughout the 1960s plus known as the pudding basin helmet in england, a half helmet or &lsquoshorty' was popular among road racers. The structure is almost similar to an empty face helmet minus the lowered rear. The bowl shaped helmet won't offer much of a protection along with the rider must wear goggles to protect the eyes. Due to decreased safety that they offer, a number of Motorcycle Safety Foundations have banned using this half helmet.

Headwear Not Included Within The Arena Of Helmets

Informal headwear such as beanies and brain buckets cannot be included in mean motorcycle helmets. Most of these headwear are not certified for safety and they are smaller and lighter than conventional helmets. They don't have security features including the energy absorbing crash foam. Inside their best, such novelty helmets prevents the scalp from sunburn or even the scalp against abrasion. However, they can't steer clear of the skull from your impact of your crash.
