My Shoei was older than this model but I looked for one that was as similar in style and features and approximately the same helmet so I could make this comment. My passenger and I were slammed into by a minivan doing 60 mph while we were making a slow speed turn. No one is quite sure why it happened because our memory of that day is mostly gone, but accident reconstruction showed our bike went over hard to the right and we went down hard, slamming our heads into the asphalt and then sliding for several hundred feet right into the oncoming lane. We were both knocked out but I was only out for a few hours while my passenger, with a cheaper helmet, was in a coma for three days. They survived too, but with greater injuries.

I purchased this helmet and so far have put on about 400 combination highway/city miles. This helmet met all of my expectations for comfort, protection from road dust, clarity of view, air circulation and quietness. After looking at several helmets from several different companies, I settled on the Shoei Qwest in Light Silver. While on the freeway, I tested the fog clearing capabilities of this helmet and I was very impressed. If I close the helmet and breathe hot air into the helmet with the top vent open, the lens clears out immediately. If I need more air on a hot day, I can simply open the visor one click to cool off and the angle of the visor keeps out bugs and road debris. The helmet controls are easy to operate using gloves and everything seems to be very well thought out and designed.

This helmet makes it worth giving up the modular functionality. Its my second Qwest because the first was so good. Quiet as you’d like, leaving any modular wanting. No more ringing ears when earplugs aren’t worn. This helmet is stable with only slight rise in the 120-140mph range. Best fit of any Shoei i’ve worn. I love the fit of an HJC but this feels perfect for my bean. A little more oval than the Korean manufacturer, but not as elliptical at most Shoei / Arai lids. Shield change is quick and easy. Easy to operate on the go and the liner feels like heaven. It’s not just a helmet… its your life when things go wrong, and your hearing when things go oh-so-right!

Great Helmet. I normally wear a small hat size …

Great Helmet. I normally wear a small hat size but a large here fit me just right. This was reviewed by others as being one of the quietest helmets so hopefully it will not aggravate my tinnitus. Ear plugs don’t always remove all of the bothersome noise encountered on a bike so a nice quiet helmet is appreciated.

I have been riding over 20 years with inferior helmets, why didn’t I go Shoei before now? Well, I thought they were all hype until I purchased this helmet, got out on the road, hit 85mph and felt as if I was in my wife’s convertible (with top up), not the wind tunnels I am used to! Better yet, no more neck pain after an hour ride. Couple that with the Bluetooth/ speaker ready featire that makes install a snap and you won’t find a better helmet. This helmet is so quiet that I could even hear and speak clearly on phone calls if I wanted to (although I don’t enable that feature because riding while talking is just plain stupid). However, after almost a month of use it is still a pretty tight fit. I bought a large but am thinking I should have gone XL. I am not a huge guy (5’10”, 185 lbs) so that is something to consider if your looking at buying one. Otherwise, I think it is the best helmet for the price, period!

This helmet is both Snell 2010 and ECE 22.05 rated. SHARP gives this helmet a 5 star safety rating as well, so it’s one of the few ECE rated helmets available in the U.S. with a 5 star SHARP rating. The vents are very intuitive to operate, even with gloves on it is easy to feel if they are open or not. The helmet has a nice defog setting and the visor mechanism is world class. It has depressions for speakers over the ears and removable cheek pads. The top lining is not removable. Wearing this helmet is a treat, with the visor closed it is very quiet and well vented.
